Computer technology is everywhere in modern society, yet it is easy to interact with technology every day with only the most superficial understanding of how it works. Our Computing curriculum is designed to ensure that students have a clear understanding both of how to use computer systems and of the computational thinking that goes into building them. Students will learn how to use a computer efficiently, how to work with a range of applications, and how to navigate the web without being misled by advertising or unreliable AI responses. They will also learn the fundamentals of programming and begin to develop their understanding of how different tasks can be easy or difficult for computers.
Please note that for the 2026-27 academic year, students in Year 7 will have separate Computing lessons on their timetable. Students in Years 8 and 9 will continue to have the Computing curriculum delivered through their Maths and DT lessons as they did in previous years. In Years 10-11, Computer Science can be studied as a GCSE option.
