Open Evening 2021

On Thursday 7th October will be holding our Year 6 Open Evening at Parkside.

Unfortunately, we have had a recent run of COVID cases at Parkside. Whilst this is now slowing down and much reduced, we are still mindful of maintaining a safe event. Therefore, we have been advised that our event should be a combination of outdoors and when indoors, socially distanced. We didn’t want to move our event completely online, as we know how important it is for families unfamiliar with the school to come and see it.

The evening will include:

  • A welcome speech from Mr Morrison, Executive Principal, in the Quad
  • A chance to look around our facilities
  • Opportunities to meet Heads of Department

The welcome talk will be repeated three times on the evening and we suggest the following staggered arrival times to help with numbers on site:

4:45 talk – St Matthew’s families, surnames A-K
5:15 talk – Newnham, Park Street, St Paul’s, and all other primary schools
5:45 talk – St Matthew’s families, surnames L – Z

We will have a reduced number of staff at the event and they will be available to speak in our outdoor spaces. The tour will be a chance to ‘walk the building’ and we will ask that everyone wears a face covering whilst indoors. Please only come if you are free of symptoms and/or have a recent negative test. If it is possible for families to limit to one parent and not bring siblings that would also be helpful.

We also ask that we keep this event to Year 6 families only. In previous years, we have opened it up to Year 5 also, however we won’t be able to accommodate this on this occasion.

We are aware of course that personal schedules will differ, so please come to another talk if the above suggested pattern does not work for you. As you will see, our timings are earlier than usual due to the need to speak with parents outdoors on this occasion. In the event of poor weather, we will contact primary schools about amended arrangements, as well as posting on our website and on twitter @Parkside_Edu

In addition, we will be recording a version of Mr Morrison’s talk so that any families who cannot make the event or would prefer not to attend in person can watch this.

We look forward to seeing many of you on Thursday 7th October.
